Message from the Dean College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Salahaddin University–Erbil
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University–Erbil—an academic institution proud of its legacy, committed to its mission, and dedicated to achieving its vision of leadership and academic excellence. Since its establishment in 1998, the College has consistently contributed to the preparation of scientifically and practically qualified professionals in the fields of physical education and sports sciences. These contributions extend to community service, the development of the sports movement, and the promotion of public health and physical activity. Over the years, our College has witnessed substantial progress across multiple areas: the expansion of academic programs, the introduction of postgraduate studies, the advancement of scientific research, and the creation of a dynamic educational environment—enhanced by modern laboratories, advanced sports facilities, and a highly qualified academic staff. I Grounded in our belief in social responsibility, we place great emphasis on community engagement through sports, training, and cultural initiatives that foster stronger connections between the institution and society at large. Our Mission
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is dedicated to preparing scientifically and professionally qualified graduates in the fields of physical education and sports sciences. This is achieved through accredited academic programs, applied scientific research, and effective partnerships with educational and sports institutions. The College is committed to upholding the values of integrity, excellence, innovation, and social responsibility to support the development of sports, health, and sustainable progress in the region.
Our History
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University-Erbil was established in 1998, having previously operated as a department within the College of Education. Its establishment was driven by the increasing demand for qualified professionals in the fields of physical education and sports sciences, reflecting the broader societal aspiration to advance the sports and health sectors in the Kurdistan Region. Since its inception, the College has undergone significant academic and institutional development. It has expanded its academic offerings, launched postgraduate programs, and established advanced sports facilities and laboratories. The College has also played an active role in community service by organizing sports events, workshops, training courses, and by fostering partnerships with local and regional sports organizations. Today, the College continues to fulfill its academic and professional mission by adhering to quality standards and pursuing academic accreditation. It aims to graduate highly qualified specialists who contribute to the advancement of education, health, and sports throughout the region and Iraq.
